Dr. Darrow, a graduate of M.I.T. & Harvard Medical School, has spent over 20 years devoted to helping people hear better. He is a Research Associate at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, a Professor at Worcester State University, and the founder of the Hearing & Balance Centers of New England. Dr. Darrow is also the founder of the new charitable nonprofit, Healthy Hearing Foundation of New England.
The mission of the Healthy Hearing Foundation of New England is to improve the lives of individuals with hearing loss by providing the best hearing health care available, at an affordable cost. Hearing loss is associated with diabetes, cardiac, thyroid and kidney disorders, and significantly increase the risk of developing dementia. Hearing care is health care, and hearing is a vital part of an individuals’ overall quality of life. However, insurance often does not provide hearing health care benefits. As a result, many people do not have proper hearing health care and suffer through the consequential impact of hearing loss.
Through multiple fund-raising efforts, we aim to provide the working families in communities across central Massachusetts with an affordable option to offset the high-cost of hearing health care. We provide preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic treatment options on an income-adjusted basis to meet the needs of each patient.
